Ooma - The Copper Monster

A lot of businesses aren’t aware that the copper telephone wires that power their crtical business systems are getting phased out and a LOT more expensive to maintain. It’s one of those business problems that’s complicated to explain and results in a lot of acronym-laden white papers.

Ooma asked for our help to grab attention and make the problem more urgent and easier to understand.

And so, “The Copper Monster” was born! He doesn’t care about your business. He’s feasting on your financials, munching your margins, and eating into your profits.

“B2B advertising doesn’t have to be boring,” said Agency SOS Creative Director John Kovacevich. “The idea that there’s a copper monster inside your business, eating away at your budget, was so evocative, we knew we had to bring him to life.” And that’s exactly what we did, in a B2B campaign on LinkedIn, trade shows, and other digital channels.

In early 2025, Ooma’s Senior Director of Brand Marketing Onita Mihaly called and said, “I want to bring him back...and I want to make him sexy.'“ Heck yeah!

“Copper Isn't Sexy”debuted March 2025 at Channel Partners Conference and Expo in Vegas. Our wiry antagonist is back, strutting his stuff in the booth, promotions, and giveaway swag.

And the booth made a splash! “It was a huge hit at an otherwise stuffy channel event,” said Senior VP of Marketing Jim Gustke. “It was the best booth at the show!” added Senior Marketing Manager: Kathleen Jensby.

“The Copper Monster is breaking out his smoothest moves to woo you into staying with him, but he can’t hide the truth,” said Kovacevich. “Copper isn’t sexy…saving money is.”

If you have a business that relies on callboxes, emergency panels, or other traditional phone lines, slay the Copper Monster and start saving.
